The Board of Trustees is the governing body of Brookwood School. It is comprised of dedicated individuals who collectively possess the expertise and resources needed to carry out Brookwood's mission and achieve its strategic goals. The Board is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the school, setting policy, and planning for the school's successful future.
Charlton Reynders, III P ‘18, ‘11, ‘11
Chat is the Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Reynders, McVeigh Capital Management, and he continues to run Highwood Productions which he founded to help fund and produce educational IMAX documentaries. Chat has been a member of the Brookwood Board for six years and currently serves as its Chair, and is also a member of the Strategic Planning Team. In addition to Brookwood, Chat serves as a Director on the Board of the MacGillivray Freeman Educational Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Westminster Kennel Club. Chat enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, fly fishing and a good book. In his earliest professional days, Chat was a second grade teacher.

Theresa Ellis P ‘24
Theresa is the Founder and CEO of Liminality Partners, a philanthropic advising firm that helps individuals and families create greater impact with their philanthropy. Specifically, she helps clients craft strategy, bring this strategy to life, and govern the organizations that enable their work. This is Theresa’s second year on the Board. She serves on the Executive Committee, and is also the Chair of the Institutional Advancement Committee as well as Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Team. Theresa enjoys gardening, hiking with her family and curling up in a hammock with a good book. She learned to read and write Danish in college so that she could study Kierkegaard, the topic of her senior thesis.

Stratton is a lifelong education and healthcare leader with a passion for social entrepreneurship. He has managed, led and operated large and small-scale organizations with strategy, technology, operations and P & L responsibility. Most recently, Stratton served as Executive Vice President of Strategy, Product Management and Customer Operations at EBSCO Information Services and was responsible for global strategy, product marketing and customer operations. Stratton has been on the Board for six years and serves on the Executive Committee, Committee on Trustees and is Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Team. He enjoys coaching, triathlons, skiing, sailing, and playing the guitar. Stratton lived in Chile for four years where he learned spanish, fly fishing and started an education nonprofit.

Jenny’s professional experience as a teacher as well as serving on other boards gives her insightful perspective on all the constituencies, from faculty and parents to what it means to be a Trustee. Jenny has been a member of the Board for over three years and serves on the Executive Committee, the Strategic Planning Team, and is Chair of the Committee on Trustees. Aside from her nonprofit work, Jenny enjoys skiing, tennis, and visiting family in Wisconsin. In college, Jenny traveled around the world on a ship exploring many different cultures from Japan to Morocco.

Rebecca has extensive experience in nonprofit management, board governance and child health advocacy. Rebecca was a partner at Social Ventures Partners in Denver, Colorado and a founding member of the Board of Directors at Roundup River Ranch. Rebecca is currently a member of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Cancer Advisory Board and Essex County Community Foundation’s County Leadership Council. Rebecca has been on the Board for four years and serves on the Executive Committee, the Committee on Trustees and the Strategic Planning Team. Rebecca was also a writer for the AISNE accreditation team. Rebecca enjoys playing tennis, running and reading. In addition to being captain of her college rugby team, Rebecca has run 5 marathons.

Amy Murphy Dowd P ‘20
Amy has served in Chief Financial Officer roles in the digital marketing industry for such organizations as SapientRazorfish, DigitasLBi, and currently at Publicis.Sapient. Amy has been on the Board for over seven years and serves on the Executive Committee. She is also Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee, Chair of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Strategic Pricing Task Force. Amy is a frequent traveler and spends a great deal of time at youth regattas, hockey tournaments, skiing in Vermont, and sailing. Amy came very close to attending Culinary School instead of getting an MBA.

Akshay is the CEO and Founder of TapQuality LLC, a technology and data-driven performance marketing company that utilizes machine learning and other advanced data analytics techniques to optimize the customer acquisition process. Akshay has been on the Board for three years and serves on the Executive Committee, the Finance and Investment Committee, the Strategic Planning Team and the Strategic Pricing Task Force. Akshay enjoys adventure travel and experiencing foreign cultures. He appreciates architectural design that incorporates nature and "green" building practices and loves outdoor activities with his family. Akshay is a Brookwood School alumnae from the Class of 1986.

Meg is currently a community volunteer, having served on several boards throughout the North Shore, and has a professional background in finance. She has been on the Board for four years and serves on the Executive Committee and the Strategic Pricing Task Force. She is also the Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Meg was a Co-Chair of the Today, Tomorrow, Together Capital Campaign. Meg appreciates and values Brookwood's strong board and the high standard it places on governance, financial sustainability and innovative education. She enjoys downhill skiing, running, tennis, trekking and music. Her first live concert was at the age of 9 to see Elvis Presley perform.

Laura has over two decades of experience in the field of education. From classroom teaching to leading senior academic, leadership and operations teams, Laura brings a keen understanding of the complexities of leading a school. Laura began her work as a middle school history and English teacher and has served as a Dean, Middle School Division Head, and Professional Development Consultant in the greater Los Angeles area. Laura has also been an instructor for Outward Bound and worked for the Harvard Negotiation Project. She has been a member of the Brookwood Board of Trustees since joining the School in 2015.

Prior to the birth of her daughter in 2007, Anne worked for a large law firm in Philadelphia where her area of concentration was legal ethics. Since 2007, Anne’s work has been primarily volunteer including positions at schools and neighborhood organizations. In addition to her board work, she has run major fundraising events for her school in Philadelphia as well as the Chestnut Hill Conservancy. Anne loves to play an active role in the communities in which her family lives and goes to school. This is Anne’s second year as the Parents’ Association President and she serves on the Institutional Advancement Committee, the Committee on Trustees and the Strategic Planning Team. Anne loves to spend time with her family in nature, traveling and she enjoys reading.

Stuart Abelson P ‘22, ‘23
Stuart Abelson is President and CEO of Ora, Inc., the world leader in ophthalmic drug and device development. Prior to joining Ora, Stuart served in various positions at Amphenol Corporation, the global leader in interconnect technology. Stuart has been on the Board for six years and serves on the Institutional Advancement Committee, the Finance and Investment Committee and the Strategic Planning Team. Stuart’s other non-profit board service includes nine years as trustee of Bates College, eight years as trustee at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and 14 years as trustee of the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo. Stuart also serves as director or observer on several corporate boards. In his personal life, Stuart is a commercial seaplane and helicopter pilot, and is an accomplished athlete as a former national trick water-ski champion and four-time NCWSA All-American.

Paul is President and CEO of Wave Life Sciences, a biotech company focused on delivering transformational therapies to patients with genetically defined diseases. This is Paul's first year serving on the Board. He serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, as well as the Finance and Investment Committee. He brings independent school board experience through his prior involvement with a merger of two independent PreK–12 schools, a head of school search and implementation of an initiative to embed an entrepreneurial mindset into curriculum.

Erich Buddenhagen P ‘19, ‘20
Erich has worked as a sales executive for the Stephen Gould Corporation for over 30 years and specializes in packaging for the biotechnology industry. He has been a member of the Board for four years and serves on the Committee on Trustees. Erich joined the board because he truly loves Brookwood and wanted to help ensure the long term success of the institution. Erich enjoys traveling with his wife, Jen, and their four boys. Together, they enjoy skiing and hiking in the White Mountains. Erich travels the world chasing both fresh and saltwater fish and has caught and released all nine Billfish species.

Faith Emerson P ‘13, ‘16
Faith is an active volunteer in a variety of North Shore non-profit organizations and is committed to making a difference in the communities and institutions that are important to her and her family. This is Faith’s second year on the Board and serves on the Committee on Trustees. However, this is a return engagement for Faith, as she served previously on the Board in her role as PA President from 2011-2013. In addition to Brookwood, Faith volunteers and serves in a number of leadership roles in organizations including Wellspring House, RootNS Inc., the Town of Manchester Sustainability Committee and the Bucks Harbor Yacht Club. In her free time, Faith enjoys spending time in Maine with her family, hiking and walking with her dog.

Kira Fabrizio P ’20, ’23
Kira is a professor at Questrom Business School at Boston University. Her areas of interest involve knowledge exploitation, firm strategy, innovation, intellectual property rights and environmental policy. She has developed the MBA curriculum on energy and environmental sustainability at Questrom, and currently leads the Sustainable Energy minor for undergraduate students. Her research has been published in economics and management journals, and she has received various awards for her scholarly work. This is Kira's first year on the Board and she serves on the Finance and Investment Committee.

Paul George GP ‘11, ‘13
Paul is the principal attorney at Kellogg and George, a business law firm in Wellesley, Massachusetts. A past grandparent, he has been on the board for more than four years and serves on the Institutional Advancement Committee. Family, sports administration, law practice, and nonprofit governance occupy much of his time. Current offices include: chairman of the board, USS Constitution Museum; president, U.S. Figure Skating Foundation: treasurer, USA Hockey Foundation; member, nominating and governance committee, U.S. Olympic Committee; trustee, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary; and advisory committee, Harvard Varsity Club. Paul enjoys the Boston Symphony Orchestra and traveling, and has had a lifelong involvement in sports, having won the 1962 National Junior Pair Skating Championship with his sister, Elizabeth. Having been involved in a wide variety of the U.S. Olympic Committee activities for many years, Paul attended the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea, his 18th Olympic Games.

John Godfrey P ‘19, ‘19
John is a developer of alternative energy facilities and has 35 years of experience in development, construction, operation and ownership of manufacturing facilities for engineered wood products including oriented strand board (OSB) mills in the Northeast United States, Eastern Canada, and Scotland, where he developed the first OSB mill in Europe. John is a founder and partner at FTE Solar, a company that leases solar-qualified roof or ground space where it installs, owns and operates solar electricity generation facilities. John has been on the Board for five years and serves on the Finance and Investment Committee. He is a pilot and flight instructor, enjoys playing squash and was once King of the Maypole Festival in Bangor, Maine.

Joseph Mueller P ‘17, ‘19, ‘22
Joseph is a Partner in the Litigation Department at WilmerHale LLP. He is a trial and appellate lawyer specializing in complex litigations involving intellectual property. He co-leads the firm’s initiative focused on matters at the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law. In addition, he represents clients who work on wide-ranging technologies in high-tech and other industries. In addition to arguing before federal and state appeals courts, he has experience with courts throughout Europe and Asia. This is Joe’s second year on the Board and he serves on the Finance and Invesment Committee, as well as the Strategic Pricing Task Force. Joe enjoys spending time with his family and playing sports. He once had a cameo role in an episode of the PBS educational kids' TV show, Fetch!

Monica currently serves as Dean of Faculty at The Governor’s Academy and brings extensive experience in independent school leadership as well as the arts. She inspires faculty members in their teaching by developing and overseeing a faculty development program. Monica has extensive experience with recruiting and hiring faculty, identifying staffing needs and improving the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty members. This is Monica's first year on the Board and she serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Rachel Loverme Rosenfeldt ‘95
Rachel has been with Kotter, a management consulting firm based in Cambridge, for more than 10 years. In her current role as Director, Rachel spends the majority of her time in business development, where she works with clients to solve some of their most challenging problems. In addition to her business development and account responsibilities, she also oversees the marketing team. This is Rachel’s second year on the Board and she serves on the Institutional Advancement Committee. Rachel loves art, food and traveling with her family. Since she was a child, Rachel has loved to read instruction manuals, cover to cover! Rachel is a Brookwood School alumna from the Class of 1995.

Cynthia Rusis P ‘19
Cynthia's professional career spanned years as an attorney and investment advisor, and she is currently dividing her time between business development in the pharmaceutical and design industries and Board positions on several charitable boards. This is Cynthia’s second year on the Board and she serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Cynthia enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and cooking. Cynthia is an identical twin.

Stephen leads the innovation consulting firm, New Markets Advisors, a boutique consulting firm. Stephen led the development of one of the world’s first smartphones and is a noted author of several books. He also writes for Forbes, Harvard Business Review, The Financial Times and other major outlets. Stephen has been on the Board for four years and serves on the Finance and Investment Committee. He is also Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Team, along with Theresa Ellis and Stratton Lloyd. Stephen lives in Puerto Rico with his family and is passionate about education and Brookwood. Stephen is an enthusiastic spectator at Puerto Rican youth soccer games.
